SUN VALLEY : Boy, 14, Arrested in Fatal Shooting
Police on Monday arrested a 14-year-old gang member on suspicion of murder in connection with the Sun Valley shooting death Saturday night of a 17-year-old rival.
Los Angeles Police Detective Frank Bishop said the 10:30 p.m. shooting occurred after an argument between the two on Allegheny Street.
Bishop said the victim, who was from Sylmar, collapsed at a telephone on San Fernando Road where he had run after being shot in the upper body. The victim was taken to Pacifica Hospital of the Valley, where he died Sunday.
Police said the arrested youth, whose name was not released because he is a minor, is from Sun Valley. He was being held at Juvenile Hall in Sylmar.
