BETWEEN RAINS: The city of Fullerton had scheduled a volunteer tree-planting on Buena Vista Drive for today, just in time for visiting dignitaries from its sister city of Fukui, Japan, which had donated the trees. . . . But fearful that impending rains would destroy their chances, they had the staff plant the 20, five-foot pink cloud cherry trees near the Muckenthaler Cultural Center between storms Wednesday. . . . “They’re beautiful,” says city parks director Greg Meek.
