Regarding those new light rail lines (March 13), which call for overhead wires, it is quite possible to avoid both overhead wires and third rails. Power can be transmitted from an underground cable via linear motor. Tesla transmitted power through the air over 25 miles when J.P. Morgan cut off his funding because they could not figure out a way to bill the customer.
