Glendale : Career Guidance Grant
Glendale College on Monday unanimously approved a first-year $450,000 federal grant to set up an employment center to assist about 900 people who are out of work or in need of retraining in the next three years.
The center will offer career guidance to the unemployed after an assessment of their skills, said Lani De Vincents, dean of the non-credit division.
The college was one of two in the state that received full funding for the program, which will be administered by the Verdugo Private Industry Council, a group of Glendale, Burbank and La Canada businesses.
