Two leftist guerrillas surrendered to a judge in eastern El Salvador to face charges of killing two U.S. soldiers last year after rebels shot down their helicopter. The two, known by their noms de guerre Aparicio and Porfirio, allegedly shot the two injured Americans Jan. 2, 1991, after Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front rebels downed the craft. The U.S. government wants the suspects to face charges in the United States, but Salvadoran authorities have said they will not be extradited.
