Stahlhoefer’s Two Home Runs Spark Chapman to 11-5 Victory
ORANGE — Larry Stahlhoefer hit two three-run home runs, helping Chapman College defeat Hartford, 11-5, in a nonconference baseball game Sunday at Hart Park.
Stahlhoefer, a junior catcher from Riverside College, hit his first homer in the first inning as Chapman scored four times. His second came in the seventh, giving Chapman an 11-5 lead.
Stahlhoefer has five home runs this season. R.J. Palma hit a home run for Chapman (16-7), which has won five in a row and 13 of its last 16.
For the Panthers, Kevin Cook had two hits and Kevin Monson had a hit and drove in two runs. Steve Aviles (4-0) worked 3 1/3innings of relief, allowing two hits and two runs, for the victory. Hartford had scored one in the third and three in the fourth to tie it, 4-4.
Chapman scored a run in the fifth and two in the sixth to take a 7-4 lead.
Bob Nenna had a home run and drove in two for Hartford (0-3). Chapman had beaten the Hawks, 10-2, Thursday.
