3 Arrested; Stolen Property Recovered
More than $800,000 worth of property stolen by a theft ring operating in Burbank and Los Angeles has been recovered with the arrests of three people, authorities said Sunday.
The property included guns, china, gold coins and antique dolls. Some of it was taken from two self-storage locations in Burbank and one in Los Feliz, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Larry Mead said.
The thieves apparently picked the locks, removed the property and placed the stolen items in their own storage containers, Mead said. “They replaced the broken locks so that the burglaries would not appear to be obvious,†he said.
Deputies from the North Regional Surveillance and Apprehension Team arrested Jeff Duffet, 25, of Burbank, whom they suspected in a series of residential burglaries in the Crescenta Valley area, Mead said. Also arrested were Donald Zeller, 30, of Burbank on suspicion of burglary and Sheryl Lynn Swanson, 26, of North Hollywood. She was arrested on suspicion of receiving stolen property.
