Canoga Park Faith Baptist 63, North Hollywood Campbell Hall 60--Austin McKellar missed a three-point shot as time expired in the Division V game at Cal State Dominguez Hills.
Faith Baptist (27-7), which had defeated Campbell Hall twice in Delphic League play, avenged a 60-40 loss to the Vikings in the Southern Section Division V-AA final.
The Contenders led, 57-50, with 2:42 to play. But Campbell Hall (20-11) closed to within 61-60 with 48 seconds to play on a 12-foot jump shot by McKellar, who scored 22 points.
Peter Rasmussen, who led Faith Baptist with 20 points, made two free throws with 17 seconds remaining for the final margin of victory. Etienne Moore added 18 points and 12 rebounds.
Faith Baptist will play Ripon Christian for the state title.
San Diego Lincoln Prep 62, Oxnard Santa Clara 60--The Hornets spoiled Santa Clara’s bid for a fourth consecutive regional title in a rematch between last season’s finalists in Division IV at Cal State Dominguez Hills.
Lincoln Prep (24-8) never trailed and led by as many as 14 points, 49-35, with two minutes to play during the third quarter. Santa Clara trimmed the deficit to 60-58 on a three-point basket by Brian Clark with 42 seconds to play, but Archie Robinson made a jump shot on Lincoln Prep’s next possession.
Joe Evans scored 18 points for Lincoln Prep. Stevie Amar had 25 points and 12 rebounds for Santa Clara (27-4), which played without starting point guard Art Barron. Barron was sidelined because of sprained ankle.
Lincoln advanced to the State final Friday against Danville San Ramon.
