OUTLOOK
Although Elizabeth Grossman has the official title of head coach, St. Margaret’s will have three coaches working with the team this year. Laura Buker and Kelly Romweber will share coaching duties on a full-time basis. “I’m head coach pretty much in name only,” Grossman said. “I think it’ll be an advantage to the team to have the three of us there to help practice run smoother everyday.” The Tartans, co-champions with Liberty Christian last year, return one of the league’s top players in McLaughlin. McLaughlin was a first-team, all-league selection last year and will be St. Margaret’s top pitcher and hitter. “Colette’s one of those players who does just about everything well,” Grossman said. “She’s got three pitches--curve, fastball and change--and she can hit and field, too.” The Tartans will need McLaughlin, Albers and Arreola to carry much of the offensive load. St. Margaret’s wasn’t a good hitting team last year, and Grossman said the offense will revolve around those three. Ruh provides good speed in the leadoff position and is expected to get on base to set up McLaughlin, Albers and Arreola. Grossman expects the defense to be solid.
