The Crenshaw High boys’ basketball team, City Section Division 4-A runner-up, was the most noticeable team missing from the Southern Regional State tournament pairings announced Sunday.
The Cougars (19-5), who lost to Westchester, 87-71, Friday night in the City 4-A championship, are four-time State Division I titlists.
Westchester (27-2) is seeded second to Santa Ana Mater Dei (31-1) in the Regional Division I bracket. Section champions are assured Regional berths. Riverside North (27-3) and Lynwood (25-6) were chosen instead of Crenshaw for the two available at-large positions in Division I.
