BAM BAM: The heavy metal band Metallica swept the 15th annual Bay Area Music Awards on Saturday in San Francisco, winning four awards including outstanding album and outstanding metal album for “Metallica.” MTV’s Julie Brown and comedian Father Guido Sarducci hosted the local music awards, sponsored by BAM magazine. A special award in tribute to the late rock music promoter Bill Graham went to rhythm and blues performer Charles Brown. Other awards included Tuck & Patti for outstanding jazz album and Sheila E. for outstanding female vocalist.
