Whiting Ranch Trip--The South Coast chapter of the National Audubon Society is sponsoring a field trip to the newly opened Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park on Thursday.
Ranger Ginny McVickar will lead the group on a walk along the Red Rock Trail, which winds past huge oak and sycamore trees.
Some of the types of birds those going on the trip are likely to see are red-tailed hawks, American coots, European starlings and various species of warblers.
Participants are asked to meet at 8 a.m. at the park, off Portola Parkway west of Bake Parkway.
