COUNTYWIDE : Tax Relief Offered Victims of Storms
Taxpayers whose property was damaged by recent storms may be eligible for lower taxes until repairs can be made, Los Angeles County Assessor Kenneth P. Hahn said.
“Under the law, property qualifies for tax relief if total loss in value due to water or mud damage is $5,000 or more,” Hahn noted.
He encouraged property owners to contact the assessor’s office nearest their homes as soon as possible to have adjustments made before the April 10 deadline for tax payments.
Regional offices are in Chatsworth, Van Nuys, Newhall and Lancaster.
