Fullerton Struggles to Beat Last-Place San Jose State

Cal State Fullerton needed some clutch free-throw shooting in the final minutes Saturday night to put away last-place San Jose State, 82-75, in a Big West Conference game before 1,729 in Titan Gym.
The Spartans had a 70-69 lead with 2:46 remaining, but Fullerton scored 10 consecutive points--eight on free throws--to take a 79-70 lead with 33 seconds left. The Titans made 11 of 12 free throws, including seven by Bruce Bowen, in the final 1:39.
Bowen scored two points in the first half but finished with a game-high 18 points and four steals. Agee Ward and Joe Small each had 17 points, both surpassing the 1,000-point mark for their careers. Sean Williams added 14 points for the Titans (12-14, 8-9).
Kevin Logan led San Jose State (2-22, 1-15) with 13 points, and Ivory Joe Hunter and Alfonso De La Nuez each added 11.
