COLLEGE BASKETBALL NATIONAL ROUNDUP : Yale Ends Princeton’s 15-Game Win Streak, 47-46

Princeton’s 15-game winning streak ended Friday night when Rob Connolly made a seven-foot baseline jump shot with 13 seconds left to give Yale a 47-46 Ivy League victory over the Tigers at Princeton, N.J.

The loss was the first for Princeton (20-4, 10-1) since a 65-59 defeat to Brigham Young on Dec. 14.

The loss also ended the Tigers’ 26-game Ivy League winning streak, four shy of the league record. It was their first league defeat since Feb. 24, 1990, against Harvard.

Princeton still has a three-game lead. The Tigers can clinch the league title by winning one of its final three games, or if Columbia and Pennsylvania lose one game.

The Tigers play host to Brown tonight.

Yale (15-8, 5-6) entered the game having lost five of its last six, but the Bulldogs played one of their best games in handing Princeton only its second loss in 38 games at Jadwin Gym.

Princeton overcame an 11-point deficit to lead, 46-45, with 30 seconds left after consecutive three-point baskets by Sean Jackson.

But Yale got the ball upcourt and Connolly worked it to the left of the basket and made his short jump shot to put Yale ahead.

After a Princeton timeout, Jackson missed a three-point shot.

Casey Cammann scored 19 points for Yale.

Southern University 94, Texas Southern 90--The Jaguars (18-11) defeated the Tigers (15-14) in overtime to advance to the championship game of the Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament at Baton Rouge, La.

Southern will play Mississippi Valley State, which defeated Alcorn State, 76-72.
