Rob Callaway and Benji Grigsby combined to strike out 15 batters as the San Diego State baseball team avenged an earlier loss to Southern California College, 10-1, Friday at Smith Field.

Callaway, a right-handed senior, struck out eight and allowed two hits in 5 2/3 innings to improve to 1-2. Grigsby, a right-handed junior transfer, struck out seven, yielded one hit in the final 3 1/3 and picked up his second save.

Grigsby has 31 strikeouts in 20 innings.

Sean Maharg, SCC’s No. 2 batter, opened the scoring in the top of the first with a home run to center, but it was all SDSU (10-5) from there as the Aztecs scored one in the second and fourth, four in the fifth, and two in the seventh and eighth. SCC fell to 2-5-1.
