MISSION VIEJO : College Newspaper Gets Excellece Award
Saddleback College’s student newspaper, the Lariat, has been recognized for excellence by the California Newspaper Publisher’s Assn.
The newspaper won a second-place award for general excellence in the association’s “Better Newspapers Contest.â€
“The Lariat students really work hard to hone their journalistic skills to a sharp edge,†said Saddleback College President Constance M. Carroll. “The college encourages them to test themselves to the fullest, to make and learn from their mistakes, and to develop superior reporting and composition abilities.â€
The newspapers submitted for award consideration were published during the 1990-91 school year under the direction of Editor-in-Chief Alex Murashko.
The award was given to newspaper staff representatives earlier this month at an awards luncheon at the Hotel del Coronado in San Diego.
