HELPING KIDS: Orange County’s Child Abuse Council...
HELPING KIDS: Orange County’s Child Abuse Council last week won the state’s top award for outstanding service, based mainly on its new guide to help hospital emergency rooms detect and report abuse. Such problems remain monumental: more than 2,700 cases reported here last month alone. Says the council’s Barbara Oliver: “A woman called to ask if it would be child abuse to leave her 3-year-old and infant with a 12-year-old baby-sitter while she went to Las Vegas for a weekend. That’s child abuse.”
