PREP BASKETBALL / CITY PLAYOFFS : Westchester Boys Seeded No. 1 in 4-A Division
Westchester High, the defending City 4-A Division boys’ basketball champion, is the top-seeded team in the City playoff pairings released Friday.
The Comets (23-2), the Western League champions, are followed by second-seeded Washington (18-4), the Southern League champion. The third-seeded team will be determined by a coin flip next week between Crenshaw (16-4) and Dorsey (17-5), which finished in a second-place tie in the Southern League.
In the 3-A Division, defending champion Fremont (26-3), is the top-seeded team for the fourth consecutive season. North Hollywood (24-1), which has reached the 3-A finals the last two seasons, is seeded second.
In the girls’ 4-A Division, three-time defending champion Washington, is the top-seeded team with a 24-2 record, followed by Wilmington Banning, which won the Pacific League with a 15-5 mark.
Huntington Park, the Eastern League champion and division finalist from a year ago, is the top-seeded team in the 3-A Division. University or Venice, who finished tied for first in the Metro League, will have a coin flip to determine the second seeding.
All first-round games are Wednesday. The City finals for both boys and girls in the 3-A and 4-A Division are scheduled March 6 at the Sports Arena.
