359,000 Pounds Collected in First Year of Recycling

LA MIRADA — A year after launching a city drop-off recycling program, La Mirada has collected more than 359,000 pounds of reusable glass, paper and aluminum. The most successful location is Foster Road Elementary School, where 93,212 pounds of materials have been recycled due to strong student participation. Kling Community Center, which has received 61,229 pounds of materials, is the second most productive recycling location.
The city’s 11 drop-off recycling centers were designed for easy access by residents. Recycling bins have separate compartments for newspapers, aluminum cans, and glass and plastic bottles.
