NHL ROUNDUP : Graves Does It All for Rangers, 9-2
Adam Graves has provided what the New York Rangers were looking for--and much more.
When the Rangers signed the Edmonton center as a free agent last summer, they were looking for an aggressive forechecker.
What they didn’t expect was a scoring threat. Graves has been both.
He scored three goals and assisted on another Friday night at New York to lead the Rangers to a 9-2 victory over the New York Islanders.
Graves, who scored only 16 goals in two season with the Oilers, has 19. From the time he scored at 7:47 of the first period, the Rangers dominated against a team that was on a 5-1-1 streak. The Islanders had won three out of four on a trip West.
Tony Amonte scored twice for the Rangers.
Buffalo 7, San Jose 6--The Sharks took a 4-1 lead six minutes into the second period at Buffalo, but suffered their third loss in a row on their trip East.
Dale Hawerchuk sparked the Sabres’ rally, completing a hat trick for the winning goal with four minutes to play. Hawerchuk also had an assist.
