Don’t Neglect Brighter Side of San Diego State

Hooray!

Dave Distel’s article of Feb. 12 was tops, both in style (clear yet clever) and substance (informative and wise).

Thank you for going directly to Tarkanian, for considering the SDSU players, for supporting the interim coach, for being blunt and realistic about Brandenburg and especially for discussing the pros/cons of Tarkanian as coach.

In other words, thank you for showing excellent leadership for the SDSU basketball community.

Personally, although I’m not very compatible with Tarkanian’s style, my gut feeling is that he would be a perfect fit here. From what I’ve read and seen on TV, he probably would both elevate the graduation rates and give the fans a very human personality they could identify with and relate to. Every coach has excess baggage. Maybe Tarkanian’s would fit on a speedy SDSU basketball jet without being too heavy and causing it to crash.

Also, I would like to thank Scott Miller for his article about SDSU women’s Coach Beth Burns. Coming as it did after the women’s loss to BYU, it should definitely help keep the girls and Coach Burns motivated. And the WAC ain’t over yet!
