COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Harney Scores 27, Golden West Women Defeat Riverside

Jennifer Harney of Golden West continued her strong play against Riverside and the Rustlers won, 82-79, in an Orange Empire Conference women’s basketball game Friday in Huntington Beach.
Harney had 27 points, including three three-pointers, for Golden West (23-5, 7-1 in conference). She scored 28, including the game-winning basket with two seconds left in a 66-65 victory Jan. 22 at Riverside.
Erika Miller added 17 points and Jenny Sullivan had nine points and 16 rebounds for Golden West.
Rachell Auld had 24 for Riverside (16-10, 4-4).
In another conference game:
Saddleback 87, Cypress 38--Danielle Silva had 19 points and eight rebounds and Erin Schimeneck had 16 points and nine rebounds as host Saddleback (25-4, 8-1) clinched a tie for the conference title.
Saddleback made its first 10 shots and opened a 20-2 lead. Teresa Doesburg had 10 steals for the Gauchos.
Saddleback can win the conference title with a victory at Golden West Friday. It Golden West wins, the team will be co-champions. Saddleback won the first meeting, 77-74, Jan. 29.
In nonconference baseball:
Rancho Santiago 2, San Diego State JV 1--Mike Fontana, a sophomore right-hander, pitched a three-hitter with 14 strikeouts for Rancho Santiago (4-4) at Southwestern. Dave Gonzalez singled to score Aaron Butler to give Rancho Santiago a 2-0 lead in the eighth. Butler had walked and stolen second.
