Margaret L. Paddock; Community Volunteer
Margaret Louise Paddock, who was involved with community service and church activities, has died at a Glendale hospital. She was 62.
A resident of Lancaster, Mrs. Paddock died Wednesday of complications of pneumonia, said her daughter, Barbara Denton of Eagle Rock.
Born in Raton, N.M., she attended the University of New Mexico and came to California in the mid-1950s. She lived in Glendale for 20 years and was past president of the Glendale PTA Council and a member of the Glendale Assistance League and the Glendale Charity League. Mrs. Paddock also taught Sunday school for many years at the First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood, where she was a member of the church’s Women’s Assn. In 1988, she moved to Lancaster where she served as an ordained deacon and elder at the Lancaster Presbyterian Church and helped found the church’s United Presbyterian Women organization. She recently served as moderator of a Presbyterian women’s group in the San Fernando Valley area.
In addition to her daughter, Barbara, Mrs. Paddock is survived by her husband of 41 years, Clark Paddock; daughter Dorothy Alvarez of Los Angeles; mother Laura Forrester of Albuquerque, N.M.; brother George Forrester of Temple City; sisters Eleanor Chapman of Memphis, Tenn., and Laura Hearrell of Albuquerque, and two granddaughters.
A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood at 1760 N. Gower St. Kiefer & Eyerick Mortuary in Glendale is handling the arrangements. Donations can be made in Mrs. Paddock’s name to the Mary Magdalene Project Inc., 6557 Flotilla St., Commerce 90040.
