New Hampshire Primary Candidates
In response to “Inside Pat Buchanan Burns the Fire of Furious Belief,†Commentary, Feb. 5:
It truly shows how thoroughly the right wing has controlled debate in this country that a former editorial page editor like Tom Dearmore can use two columns of print to analyze Pat Buchanan and come to the conclusion that some of his ideas appeal to base instincts.
Buchanan is a conservative. Conservatism is nothing but an appeal to base instincts. “Conservative†is simply the most widely used “politically correct†term in existence. They used to be called “rednecks.†That Dearmore finds it worthy of discussion shows just how far the yahoos have come. And how low the country has sunk.
