Magic Moment: Sunday’s NBA All-Star game--with Magic Johnson’s first game appearance since he retired from the Lakers--drew a 13.7 rating for NBC in the 25 major metered markets, A. C. Nielsen Co. reported Monday. That’s a 54% increase over last year’s game. In Los Angeles, the All-Star Game had a 17.6 rating, making it the day’s third-most watched program, trailing only CBS’ “60 Minutes” (24.3) and the prime-time Olympic coverage (18.5). Prime-time viewing is traditionally higher because more people are at home. Meanwhile, CBS Olympics coverage is averaging a 19 rating for its first two prime-time shows, a 29% increase over what ABC received for its first two prime-time telecasts for the 1988 Winter Olympics.
