CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : SAN DIEGO : 60,000 Child Porn Magazines Seized
Sheriff’s deputies confiscated a cache of 60,000 child pornography magazines and instruction manuals found inside a shed in eastern San Diego County, officials said. The collection of explicit magazines, some reportedly valued at up to $100, was being prepared for distribution in San Diego County and other parts of the country, Sheriff’s Lt. Alan Truitt said. Detectives believe this was the largest such seizure ever in the county. They also said they do not believe any local children were used in the magazines. Some magazines were published in 1970 and many appeared to be musty, leading authorities to believe that they had been stored for several years and were being prepared for a large distribution, said Sheriff’s Sgt. Bill Southwell.
