Let Mel Speak Freely

Regarding Liz Smith’s “Mel Has GLAAD Unhappy” (Jan. 15):

Please practice what you preach. Open-mindedness applies not only to the general public, but also to the “politically correct” world of entertainment. If Mel Gibson’s views don’t reflect the “Jump-on-the-Bandwagon” opinions of Hollywood, they are still his opinions. Everybody has the right and ability to make up his or her own mind and thus must be tolerant with others who may not see things eye-to-eye. When someone is asked his or her beliefs, he should be able to say them straight as he sees them.
