SANTA ANA : Fire at Restaurant Confined to Attic
Customers and employees were evacuated from a restaurant Friday afternoon when an electrical wire short-circuited and caused a fire in the building’s attic, fire officials said.
It was not known how many people were evacuated in the 3:20 p.m. fire at La Costa Mexican Restaurant, said Karl Ellman, spokesman for the Santa Ana Fire Department. No injuries were reported.
Authorities received several calls reporting smoke billowing from the restaurant at 930 S. Main St., Ellman said. Damage was estimated at $50,000.
