Councilman Accused of Interest Conflict Quits
- Share via
City of Industry Councilman Patrick Perez, whose co-ownership of businesses doing work with the city has made him a target of conflict of interest charges during his eight years on the City Council, has resigned.
In his resignation letter, Perez said he wanted to “pursue other challenging interests.” He could not be reached for further comment.
Since his appointment to the council in 1983, Perez, 52, has been the center of controversy involving his partial ownership of two companies, City of Industry Disposal Co. and Zerep Management Co., which have contracts with the city.
Lawrence Mayo, 77, replaces Perez.
