Capistrano Valley Christian 44, Ayala 37--Heidi Elliott had 12 points, 15 rebounds and five blocked shots for Capistrano Valley Christian (7-10, 4-3).

In the Sunset League:

Huntington Beach 59, Ocean View 57--With 18 seconds remaining, Clare Walker scored off an inbounds play to give visiting Huntington Beach (11-7, 5-2) a 59-55 lead. Walker and Tuesda Wistrick scored 22 points for Huntington Beach.

Marina 49, Fountain Valley 42--Fountain Valley led, 24-22, at the half, but Marina (14-2, 6-1) outscored the host Barons, 15-3, in the third quarter. Jessica Trippet had 18 points and 15 rebounds for Marina. Julie Murdent had 23 points and 12 rebounds for Fountain Valley.

Westminster 49, Santa Ana 40--Freshman Rachel Kavan had 15 points and Cornetha Young had 12 points and 15 rebounds for host Westminster (1-6 in league), which won its first Sunset League game in six seasons.

In Angelus League boys’ basketball:

Santa Margarita 66, St. John Bosco 61--Michael Carpenter scored 20 points, and Dan Bathey and Bobby Nolan each scored 14 for visiting Santa Margarita (17-3, 4-1), the third-ranked team in the county. Nolan made 10 of 10 free throws.

Brethren Christian 86, Ontario Christian 48--Chiron Hart scored 34 points for Brethren Christian (16-2, 7-0).

Capistrano Valley Christian 52, Ayala 36--Troy Rodarmel had 22 points for visiting Capistrano Valley Christian (9-8, 2-5).
