Missing Man, 58, Found in Whittier
BUENA PARK — A 58-year-old man with Alzheimer’s disease who was missing for two days has been returned home, family members said.
Police officers in Whittier found Bing Liang about 6 a.m. Saturday morning without any identification, said Stacie O’Dowd, his son-in-law. Police, unable to communicate with Liang in his native Mandarin, eventually took him to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, where doctors examined him.
Once they determined that Liang had Alzheimer’s disease, doctors checked with police to see if he had been reported missing. Liang, who was unharmed, was released to O’Dowd on Monday evening.
Liang wandered from his Buena Park home about 2 p.m. Friday. It was unclear exactly how long Liang had been walking or how he arrived in Whittier.
