Israel’s Likud Leaders
As I read Anne Roiphe’s column, “They Want Land, All of It” (Column Left, Jan. 12), I realized that the problem is not in Israel but as she sees things.
The real problem is that she lives in a huge country with no enemies but she is willing to tell Israel that it cannot be as wide as the length of Wilshire Boulevard from the beach to downtown Los Angeles.
The real problem is an Arab world that is larger than the U.S. and Canada combined yet they want more land. They want Israel’s territory one way or the other.
The real problem is that Roiphe and people like her have such a venomous hatred for Yitzhak Shamir and Ariel Sharon that it blinds them to any good they might do and all the evil that the Arabs do and have done.
The real problem is that Roiphe lives in the comfort and security of the U.S. and tells Israelis how they should deal with life-and-death decisions.
