Arcadia : Credit for Saving Water
The City Council on Tuesday approved a $97,500 allocation for a new water-billing system that will give customers credit for conserving water.
Last February, the city implemented a mandatory conservation program and began charging penalties for overuse. The monthly allotments were based on average consumption from July, 1987, to June, 1990.
The new system, however, will be able to give customers credit for conserving water. It will take about three months to install.
The council voted 4 to 0 to fund the project. Councilman Robert Harbicht was absent.
