GM Recalls 214,500 Vehicles: General Motors Corp. said it was recalling the vehicles to fix defects that could result in a loss of control or cause transmissions to engage in neutral. GM recalled about 9,500 1992 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme and Ciera, Buick Regal and Century, Pontiac Grand Prix and Chevrolet Lumina cars equipped with automatic transmissions. The company said the transmissions could engage when the shifter is set in neutral. GM also recalled about 186,000 1985-86 Chevrolet and GMC one-ton C-30 pickups and vans. The company said a part in the steering mechanism could crack and vehicle control could be lost. Finally, about 19,000 1989-model Chevrolet Corsicas equipped with optional steel wheels were being recalled because cracks could develop on the wheels’ outer edges. Owners will be notified by mail, and repairs will be performed for free.
