Payrolls Shrink: Orange County’s small technology manufacturers reduced their payrolls 1.25% over the past year, according to a recently released survey by Corporate Technology Information Services Inc. in Woburn, Mass.
At the end of the year, a survey of 240 of the county’s high-tech manufacturers, each with fewer than 1,000 employees, showed that employment gains at 53 companies during the year were offset by layoffs at 28 companies and 11 business failures.
Employment was stable at 148 companies.
The decline in employment at Orange County companies compared to a 2.6% increase among a sample of firms nationwide, the survey said.
