Bobby Hatfield of the Righteous Brothers has been hospitalized in Reno due to blood clotting in one of his legs.

Hatfield complained of leg problems during the afternoon of Dec. 28, according to an official at Bally’s casino, where Hatfield and partner Bill Medley had been booked for a series of year-end shows. Hatfield was seen by a physician, and then performed that night. He was hospitalized after the show, and Medley completed the last two days of the Bally’s engagement on his own.

Hatfield, 51, was listed in stable condition Wednesday at St. Mary’s Hospital. The singer’s wife, Linda, said she expects him to be released Friday or Saturday, and that he should be able to resume a normal schedule shortly. Hatfield had to be immobilized because of the clots until they could be thinned with medication, she said.

Marshall Stevenson, manager of the Righteous Brothers’ Hop, a Fountain Valley nightclub co-owned by Hatfield and Medley, said Hatfield was in good spirits when he visited him Sunday in the hospital.

The tenor-voiced Hatfield was the lead singer on “Unchained Melody,” which re-ignited the Righteous Brothers’ career after it was featured in the 1990 film, “Ghost.”
