Yellowstone National Park officials are proposing a 20-year, $300-million road program to rebuild or restore more than 200 miles of crumbling park roads. Road conditions in the park long have drawn the ire of tourists. The top priorities are likely to include the east entrance road that traverses 8,559-foot-high Sylvan Pass, as well as “the whole west side of the park,” Tim Hudson, the park’s chief of maintenance, said. Only 28% of the park’s 329 miles of paved roads are judged to be in good shape, he said.
