COUNTYWIDE : Rainstorm Leaves Area Below Average
A light storm over the weekend dumped an average of 0.3 of an inch of rain on Ventura County, flood control district officials said Monday.
The rainfall “leaves the county lagging well below the average for this time of year,†hydrologist Bill Minger said. Noting that the rainfall for this period is well below that of the previous five years, Minger said, “as far as the ongoing drought is concerned, it doesn’t look encouraging.â€
Minger predicted that periods of light showers would continue on Monday and today. He said it will begin to clear on Wednesday and expected drier weather leading into the weekend with the help of light Santa Ana winds.
Oxnard, with 0.52 of an inch of rain between late Saturday and early Sunday, had the most rain in the county, Minger said. He added that rainfall in the county is “about 30% below the seasonal norm.â€
