2 Growers Reelected to Avocado Panel
Two Ventura County growers have been reelected to posts on the California Avocado Commission’s board of directors.
Robert Tobias of Ventura, an avocado and citrus grower, was reelected recently to a two-year term on the 15-member board.
He also was picked to serve a second one-year term as chairman.
Tobias, who has served on the commission for six years, is director of field operations for Mission Produce Inc. of Oxnard.
Steve Barnard of Santa Paula, president of Mission Produce, was reelected to a two-year term as a board member.
He has served two years as a member and previously served four years as an alternate.
The commission was created by the state Legislature in 1978 to replace the California Avocado Advisory Board.
The organization’s main objective is to increase the demand for and consumption of California avocados through advertising and promotion.
