WOMEN’S BASKETBALL : Santa Barbara Beats UCLA, 78-70

Senior forward Erika Kienast’s 16 points and 13 rebounds led UC Santa Barbara to a 78-70 victory over UCLA in a women’s college basketball game at Pauley Pavilion Saturday night.
The Gauchos (3-2) took a 23-21 lead midway through the first half and never relinquished it.
It was the first victory for Santa Barbara in the nine-game history between the teams.
No. 3 Stanford 100, CS Long Beach 59--Christy Hedgepeth scored a career-high 21 points to lead the Cardinal (5-0) past the 49ers (0-1) at Palo Alto.
Long Beach fell behind, 57-23 at halftime and trailed by as many as 48 points on two occasions.
