Dead Man Found on River Trail
The body of an unidentified man was found Saturday along the Santa Ana River trail near Segerstrom Avenue, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department said.
“We’re treating it as a homicide because we’re not sure of the circumstances,†said Sheriff’s Lt. Jay Mendez.
Santa Ana police found the body at 7:38 p.m. beneath the Segerstrom Avenue crossing, Mendez said, and reported it to the Sheriff’s Department. The river forms the border between Santa Ana and Fountain Valley, but the Sheriff’s Department has jurisdiction over the river and trail.
Mendez said investigators believe the man fell or was pushed from the crossing. Medical personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene.
