Vaughan H.J. Shalson has announced plans to resign as president and chief executive of Cortex Pharmaceuticals Inc., effective Dec. 19. Shalson, who plans to rejoin his family in the Bay Area, said his resignation was based on personal reasons. Cortex, based in Irvine, is developing products for the treatment and diagnosis of age-related diseases and disorders of the brain.
