Lincoln 66, Poway 63--Poway had pulled to within, 64-63, but was called for goaltending with 30 seconds left and could not pick up any more ground on the fifth-ranked Hornets (2-2). Archie Robinson and Hosa Baker each had 18 points and Berry Randle 15 for Lincoln. Kyle Milling paced the fourth-ranked Titans (2-2) with 18 points.
Bonita Vista 66, Mt. Miguel 52--Gerald Rhoden scored 16, Frank Peralta 14 and David Dave 12 for Bonita Vista, which outscored Mt. Miguel (3-2) 23-9 in the second quarter. Mike Clymer and Marcus Gallardo scored 11 apiece for the Matadors.
Madison 67, El Capitan 53--Donnie Collins scored 22 points, pulled down 18 rebounds and blocked five shots to lead Madison (2-2). Teammate Shane Lantz added 11 and Matt Baker 10.
UC/SD Tournament
San Diego 70, Montgomery 38--Tavie Mason’s 13 points paced the Cavers (1-1), with contributions by teammates Sedrick Bagby (10 points) and Travis Nichols (nine points, nine rebounds). Montgomery fell to 1-1.
University City 93, Granite Hills 82--Barry Waits, a senior, made four three-pointers and scored a career-high 37 points to lift University City, which took an 80-56 lead after three quarters. Bobby Caviola added 13 points, Forest Denson 12 and Derrick Richardson 10 for the Centurions (2-0). Bob Allums had 19 points for Granite Hills (1-1).
Trabuco Hills Tournament
Carlsbad 65, Los Alamitos 53--The Lancers’ victory moved them into today’s fifth-place game in Mission Viejo. Kewan Shariff scored 20 points for 10th-ranked Carlsbad (2-1). Teammate Chad Nelson added 19. Neil Cunningham had a game-high 29 points for Los Alamitos (1-2).
Parker Tournament
Julian 52, Army-Navy 41--Anthony Howard (23) and Graham Koonce (14) combined for most of Julian’s points.
Bishop’s 76, Tri-City Christian 62--John Asshari came up with a game-high 26 points, but he didn’t get much help from his Tri-City Christian teammates. Will Lindstrom’s 14 points and Nelson Ackerly’s 13 paced Bishop’s.
Santa Fe Christian 72, Mtn. Empire 53--Gus Szendson’s 29 points lifted Santa Fe Christian, while Gilberto Gonzales had a game-high 21 for Mtn. Empire.
Francis Parker 62, Borrego Springs 41--Host Parker (1-1) pulled away from Borrego Springs in a 17-2 second-quarter scoring binge. Parker teammates Scott Levin’s 22 points and Jason Synder’s 15 were instrumental.
Nonleague
Serra 64, El Cajon Valley 33--Joey Wojdowski scored 16, Justin Wible 13 and Darryl Van Cleave 12 to lead Serra. Mike Stadler scored 18 for El Cajon Valley.
Ramona 60, Clairemont 47--Rusty Hoss scored 23 and had 11 rebounds, and Cody Cunningham scored 18--including 16 in the first half--and had 10 rebounds to lead Ramona (1-0). Rashean Brown scored 16 for Clairemont (1-2).
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Mira Mesa Fieldstone Classic
Torrey Pines 68, Hoover 26--Nada Tomic had three three-pointers and 17 points and Katrina Berger and Christine Templin added 12 each for Torrey Pines (3-1). Stacey Rhone scored 12 for Hoover (0-4). Berger and Catherine Blake were named all-tournament.
