Larry Sledz, who appeared as an extra in several television shows, has died at a Canoga Park hospital. He was 40.
Sledz died Wednesday of a cerebral hemorrhage, his wife, Joan Sledz, said.
Born in Cleveland, Sledz played the guitar in a rock band in Ohio before coming to California in 1978.
He was an extra on “The White Shadow,” “Paris” and “Hill Street Blues,” in which he was a double for six years for Daniel J. Travanti, who portrayed police Capt. Frank Furillo.
Sledz was a member of Screen Actors Guild and Screen Extras Guild.
In addition to his wife of 15 years, Sledz is survived by brother Bob Sledz of Rocky River, Ohio; sister Carol Himes of Hollywood, and three nieces.
A vigil is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Bastian & Perrott Mortuary, 18728 Parthenia St., Northridge, which is handling the arrangements. Donations can be made in Sledz’s name to the Hemophilia Foundation of Southern California.
