NEWPORT BEACH : Chamber Honors 3 Officers, Dispatcher
Four members of the Newport Beach Police Department were honored with merit awards for their on-the-job performance by the Newport Harbor Area Chamber of Commerce at the annual Police Awards Luncheon.
Detective Scott McKnight, dispatcher Kathy McGlinchey and Officers Rob Morton and Mark Hassell received this year’s awards at the chamber’s 21st annual luncheon earlier this month.
McKnight was honored for his investigation that led to the arrest of two suspects in an international drug operation.
Morton received his award for the arrest of an armed man in an alley and Hassel for his foot pursuit of armed robbery suspects.
McGlinchey was honored for saving the life of a 911 caller by sending an officer to check on a poisoning victim.
The awards luncheon was founded by William D. Lusk, vice chairman of the board for the Lusk Co., as a way to commend and show community support for the city’s Police Department.
