San Marcos
Sheriff’s homicide detectives were investigating the Thanksgiving night death of a man gunned down in the parking lot of a San Marcos apartment building.
The shooting of Pedro Vazquez Carrasco, 26, a laborer whose address was not known, occurred at 8 p.m. in the 200 block of Chinaberry Lane, according to the San Diego County medical examiner’s office. Carrasco was pronounced dead at the scene about 20 minutes later.
Detectives said witnesses described a red pickup, possibly a Toyota, driving away from the lot immediately after the shooting. The vehicle reportedly contained four unidentified people, including a male driver wearing a light-colored cowboy hat, a woman in the passenger seat and two children riding in the truck bed.
