Ramona
A 36-year-old woman was killed when she lost control of her car which struck a tree and a fire hydrant, authorities reported.
She was identified by the San Diego County medical examiner’s office as Mary Theresa Stowell of Ramona.
Medical examiner investigator Dan Matticks said Stowell, who was alone in the car, was northbound on Main Street in Ramona at 3 p.m. Friday when she lost control near Pala Street and ran off the roadway, hitting the tree and hydrant.
She was flown by Life Flight helicopter to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, where she died while in surgery, authorities said.
The California Highway Patrol was investigating the crash.
