Golf, Tennis Will Join the Fray
Two annual events--golf’s Skins Game and tennis’ Davis Cup final--will compete with a regular schedule of Raiders, Rams, Lakers and Kings games for viewers.
Golf: Jack Nicklaus, John Daly and Payne Stewart will try to deny Curtis Strange a third consecutive Skins Game title. The first nine holes will air at 12:30 p.m. today on Channels 7, 3, 10 and 42. The final nine holes will air at 3:30 p.m. Sunday on Channels 7, 3, and 42, and 12:30 p.m. on Channel 10. Vin Scully, Peter Jacobsen and Jerry Pate report.
Tennis: The U.S.-France Davis Cup final will continue at 9:30 a.m. today (delayed) on ESPN with a doubles match. A singles match will be played Sunday at 10 a.m. (delayed) on ESPN.
Pro football: Back atop the AFC West standings, the Raiders (8-4) will play the San Diego Chargers (3-9) at 5 p.m. Sunday on Channels 9, 10 and ESPN. The Rams (3-9) will play the Washington Redskins (11-1) at 1 p.m. Sunday on Channel 2. The day’s telecasts will begin at 10 a.m. with the New York Jets-Buffalo Bills game on KNBC Channel 4.
College football: No. 3 Florida State (10-1) and No. 5 Florida (9-1) will play at 9 a.m. today on Channels 7, 3, 10 and 42. No. 1 Miami (Fla.) will play host to Freedom Bowl-bound San Diego State (8-2-1) at 4:30 p.m. on ESPN. No. 18 Notre Dame (8-3) will visit Hawaii (4-6-1) at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN.
