Evie Dannemeyer considers her husband “a compassionate man.” Of course she does. She is white, presumably heterosexual and conservative. The only thing that stigmatizes Evie, in her husband’s view, is her gender. However, since she clearly stands by her man, she nowhere exhibits an “unnatural desire to be like men,” which is the always imaginative Dannemeyer’s assessment of women out to protect their rights. As a country we have just turned the tide of another man, David Duke, who cloaks his ignorance and bigotry in the drape of religion; let’s all be sure to do the same to Dannemeyer.
